The reduction of chemical application in agriculture is very popular nowadays. The Pyroligneous acid or wood vinegar was one of the most popular products to replace chemicals. There were several agencies providing advice on how to use and promote the use of wood vinegar while lack of the information on the actual application and the users were reported. Hence, this research aimed to study the production of wood vinegar and its utilization as well as the efficiency test of wood vinegar to control flea beetles in kale cultivation. In the study of the effectiveness of wood vinegar for controlling the flea beetle in kale. The treatments were the wood vinegar in water at various ratios: 1:50, 1: 100, 1: 150, 1: 200, 1: 300, 1: 500, 1: 750 and 1: 1000. The controlled factors were water and profenofos insecticides at concentration of 30 ml per 20 liters of water. The experiment was manipulated 3 repetitions. All solutions were sprayed every 7 days. The number of flea beetles on the sticky yellow trap (20 sheets per a repetition) was counted. The height and the fresh weight of kale were recorded after spraying. The analysis of variance was used for variation analysis of the treatment and the Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT) method was used for the means comparison analysis. Three groups of the population (60 in total) were included in the study of production and utilization of wood vinegar in PathumThani: producers, producers and users, and users. The information related to the producers was collected by interviewing. For the producers and users, and the users, the data was collected by a questionnaire on the production and the use of wood vinegar. the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used. The study of the efficiency of wood vinegar to control the flea beetles of kale showed that the number of beetles found in kale sprayed by the profenofos insecticides was minimal and it was statistically significantly different to all of the other trials. Wood vinegar at a concentration of 1:50 showed the best control of flea beetles in kale. The largest number of flea beetles was mostly found in water solution. The average height of kale before harvesting showed statistically significant difference to all treatments. The kale sprayed by wood vinegar at 1: 150 ration had the highest height of 23.15 cm. The kale with the application of 1: 500 of wood vinegar: water had the least height (21 cm). The average fresh weight of kale sprayed by insecticide had the maximum weight. However, it showed a non-significant difference to the average weight from the trials with wood vinegar at 1:50, 1: 100 and 1: 150 ratio. The fresh weight of kale from the wood vinegar at 1: 750 ratio showed the least weight one with a statistically non-significant difference to the control experiment (water). The study of the commercial wood vinegar producers revealed that the popular woods used for wood vinegar production were neem, eucalyptus, longan, coconut shell (mesocarp and endocarp). The production volume was approximately 2,070 liters per month and resulted in 76,000 Baht income. The markets for wood vinegar were Ta-lad Thai market, and the See-Mum- Meang wholesale market. The average wholesale price was 66 Baht per liter and the average retail price was 108 Baht per liter. The database showed that both producers and users used wood vinegar mostly for agricultural purposes, followed by household use. For agricultural purposes, it was used for pest prevention, growth stimulator of plants and livestock, and soil improvement respectively. The information obtained from the users alone indicated that the wood vinegar was mostly used for leafy vegetables. Approximately 70% of the users bought the wood vinegar from the agrochemicals shops and applied it as indicated on the label instructions for insect control. The ratio of wood vinegar to water for spraying was 1:50 -1: 200 and sprayed every 7-15 days.
