Abstract: | This research is mixed methods research based on the quantitative research and qualitative research. This research aimed to: 1) investigate the present and expected conditions of management skills of school administrators under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 4 in Pathum Thani and Saraburi provinces, and 2) find out guidelines for developing management skills of school administrators under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 4. The sample chosen by multi-stage sampling included 340 teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 4. The key informants were five school administrators from schools certified at a high level of assessment by the Office for Nation Education Standards and Quality Assessment (Public Organization), or those awarded with world-class standard in the Royal Award project. The research instrument was a 5-rating-scale questionnaire. The statistics for data analysis consisted of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis for an interview. The research results showed that: 1) the present and expected conditions of management skills of school administrators under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 4 was at a high level, 2) guidelines for developing management skills of school administrators under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 4 were presented as follows: for the technical skills, school administrators should appropriately allocate budget and administrative resources for teachers and other educational personnel to develop themselves by seeking more knowledge related to their operation. For the interpersonal skills, school administrators should organize activities and projects to build good relationships among teachers and other staff to create a good working atmosphere. For conceptual skills, school administrators should hold a meeting to identify the shared understanding and set the same goal for school development. For the educational and instructional skills, school administrators should allocate appropriate amount of time for teachers to spend on their teaching as well as developing the school curriculum to keep up with current social conditions. |
