Abstract: The objectives of this independent study were: 1) to investigate the levels of perceived organizational support and motivation, based on Alderfer’ s ERG theory of motivation, and task performance by administrative staff, 2) to examine the influence of different personal factors on task performance by administrative staff specifically within the Office of the Attorney General, and 3) to study the influences of perceived organizational support and motivation based on ERG theory to task performance by the same administrative staff. The samples used in this study comprised 188 administrative staffs working at the Office of the Attorney General, Rachadapisek Road building. Data was collected through the application of a questionnaire that passed testing for content validity and reliability. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, which comprised frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics, which included independent sample t-test, one - way ANOVA and multiple linear regression. The findings revealed that the overall dimensions of perceived organizational support and motivation based on ERG theory were rated at a high level. Variations in administrative employees’ gender, salary, seniority, and length of service gave no statistically significant differences in task performance whereas variations in age and education gave differences in task performance at a statistically significant level of .05. The study also found that perceived organizational support, including compensation and benefits, psychoactive and operational dimensions, affected task performance of administrative staff at a statistically significant level of. 05 but perceived organizational support as job knowledge and opportunity and stability in work did not. Additionally, motivation based on ERG theory including existence needs and relatedness needs had effect on task performance of administrative staff at a statistically significant level of .05 but ERG theory as growth needs did not.
